Interesting Infographic on Global Usage of Social Networks

Last Friday, I saw a very interesting Infographic that Mashable shared. It is about how different countries use social networks and this ongoing market research is done by Global Web Index.

Social Networks Usage

In a country where a mobile phone is more important than a bank account and with the advent of improved and cheaper internet services as well as the availability of affordable 3G phones, I am not surprised that the Philippines came in first in the social network penetration. Aside from that, the Philippines is also the text capital of the world…

According to Wikipedia, the Philippines alone sends on the average 400 million text messages a day, or approximately 142 billion text messages sent a year, more than the annual average SMS volume of the countries in Europe, and even China and India.

About a week ago, I read an article on smdio.com on how Africa is becoming an emerging market for social media technology. For the Philippines and some parts of Asia, we are not yet much into online purchases and maybe we are yet to spend as much as Africa. But with these kinds of data, it’s something for online entrepreneurs to look into so that they could leverage such information for their businesses.

Hi Jessica, I tried to click on your ad for the theme website, but there’s no link. Nothing happens when I click it. Thought you might want to know!

Yeah, a friend already mentioned that but I just did not bother to remove them. I’ve been thinking of putting an affiliate banner on that area but I still haven’t got the time to look for product(s) to promote. Thanks for taking the time to bring this up. :)
